# Tracking channels

> Choose and manage the public YouTube channels you follow.

Add channels from the [Channels page](https://monitoryt.com/app/channels) using any
of these forms:

* A handle such as `@mkbhd`
* A channel URL such as `https://youtube.com/@mkbhd`
* A permanent YouTube channel ID beginning with `UC`

Monitor YT resolves the input to a permanent channel ID before adding it. A tracked
channel contributes its public uploads and detected changes to your feed.

## What Monitor YT collects

* New public long-form uploads
* Video titles and thumbnails
* Public view, like, and comment counts
* Public subscriber count changes
* Channel name and profile image changes

Monitor YT discovers new public long-form uploads through YouTube's channel feed.
Shorts, livestreams, private videos, and members-only uploads are not part of new
upload discovery. See [Detection and data freshness](/detection-and-freshness) for
the collection schedule and limitations.

## Shared monitoring

Channel collection is shared across Monitor YT. If another user already tracks a channel, adding it to your account uses the existing monitoring history where your plan permits it.

Removing a channel only removes it from your account. It does not affect other users who track the same channel.

## Plan limits

Free accounts can track 5 channels and Pro accounts can track 100. Removing a
channel frees a slot immediately. See [Plans](/plans) for history and API access
differences.
